Castelnaud-la-Chapelle

Castelnaud-la-Chapelle is a town located in the heard of Périgord Noir, in the department of Dordogne (Aquitaine region).
The village is part of the canton of Domme and the district of Sarlat-la-Canéda.
Overviewing the Dordogne and Céou rivers, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle is caracterized by its terrace disposition, we can climb through small and steep streets.
This village enjoys exceptionnal patrimonial riches. Its typical houses, pigeon lofts, viewpoints, its walking and hiking path and of course its cliffs and rivers, make it the perfect location for outside activities.

A dominating position
The village of Castelnaud comes down from a limestone plateau located 220 meters above sea level, all the way down to the valley, approximately 70m high.
The riches of the town of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle rests on the value of its witnesses, its numerous historical monuments and sites which it prouds itself of.
The town has always employed itself to protect the landmarks, building and historical sites.
The “Zones de Protection du Patrimoine Architectural Urbain et Paysager” (Urban Architectural and Lanscape Patrimony Protection Areas) finally allowed the town to be assited by the state to protect these areas.
